One of the smartest people I know is a college friend who became a Christian
When we discussed it, my friend said, “A lot of people talk about being called to something, but I don’t hear much about being called from something.”
In many ways, my friend’s obedience was like that of Israel’s patriarch Abraham,
A life of obedience may not be easy, but it will be blessed (Luke 11:28).
As Abraham went out,
You don’t need to know where you’re going if you know God is leading.
My response: God gave some strange directions to Abraham (Genesis 22: 1-19), Moses (Exodus 15:22-25) and Joshua (Joshua 6:1-20), yet they obeyed even when it didn’t make sense and God worked things out for them.
I will trust and obey God even when it doesn’t make sense. I may not know where I am heading in 2011 but I know that God is leading. I am called from where I am now, to where He wants me to be.
I will claim His promise in Deuteronomy 7:12 that if I pay attention to His laws and are careful to follow them, then He, the Lord my God, will keep His covenant of love with me.
