City life tends to be hectic and city folks tend to go through each day in a rush.
Everyday is spent rushing from one place to another, and rushing through an endless list of must-do tasks.
It’s not surprising that many people collapse in bed utterly exhausted at night, only to start the next day with a backlog of unfinished tasks from the day before, and a new list of tasks to complete.
Are you rushing through life so much, that you’re not living, nor enjoying life to the fullest?
Or, are you so full of frustrations that you’re screaming inside and rushing through your passage of life, and not fully seeing and living your life at all?
Indeed, life is short. “What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” James 4:14
Moreover, the bible tells us that here on earth we will have many trials and sorrows. The good news is that we can take heart that Jesus has overcome the world for us on the cross and despite the troubles in our lives, we can still have peace (John 16:33).
The implication is that we can choose to live an abundant life. We don’t have to suffer helplessly. We don’t have to feel harassed all the time. We can choose to be happy.
God, teach me to realise the brevity of my life so that I may grow in wisdom. Teach me to live well. Teach me to live wisely. ~Psalm 90:12
